Morning Steps

Piano Notes Originals Five-finger practice

Beginner#c-major#coordination

A short original exercise for finding a relaxed five-finger position. Place your right thumb on C4 and your left little finger on C3.

1. A gentle climb

Play one column per slow count. Release each note before the next column. Keep your shoulders relaxed.

LH: C3 - E3 -
RH: C4 D4 E4 G4

2. Find your way home

Let both hands land together in the final column.

LH: G3 - D3 C3
RH: F4 E4 D4 C4

Practice idea

Try each hand separately, then put them together. Repeat both phrases three times at a pace where every note feels comfortable.

Slow is a good place to start. Repeat a little, then take a breath.
